Doctrine

The doctrine of Generation Heartbeat was created intentionally for the purpose of unity and agreement within the organization, keeping the Bible as the supreme authority. We hold firmly to these principles, always aspiring to communicate the truth in love.

At Generation Heartbeat, we view abortion as a grave moral evil and equivalent to murder because Scripture reveals the precious sanctity of every child from the moment of conception and that every human being is created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27, Psalm 139:13-16). Ending an unborn life is the deliberate killing of an innocent individual, violating the commandment “thou shalt not kill” (Exodus 20:13). All life, no matter how small or dependent, possesses inherent worth and divinely written purpose. In 30+ U.S. States, it is considered a double homicide to kill a pregnant woman, begging the question of why we do not value life the same way when it pertains to abortion. Inconsistencies like this are what keeps us questioning the selectivity of abortion legislation and leads us to the conclusion that abortion ought to be illegal. It is therefore the responsibility of Christians to defend the unborn and stand against abortion, obeying God’s command to protect the innocent and speak for those who cannot speak for themselves (Proverbs 31:8-9)

Generation Heartbeat believes that human life begins at conception because of God’s intimate and deliberate involvement in knitting together each person in the womb (Psalm 139:13-16, Jeremiah 1:5), showing that life does not begin at birth, but at conception, when God initiates a unique human soul. Christians believe that each unborn child bears the image of God and is therefore sacred, deserving of full moral and legal protection from the earliest moment of existence. At the moment of conception, a unique DNA blueprint is formed which is genetically distinct from both parents and contains the complete set of 46 human chromosomes, initiating a new, individual human life with its own specific genetic code from the very start.

Only a very small percentage of abortions are performed for reasons related to a woman’s life or serious physical health, leading Generation Heartbeat to renounce the idea of abortions performed for the sake of convenience. Analyses of the U.S. state-level reporting and synthesized fact sheets show that roughly 1% or fewer of abortions are categorized as necessary to save a mother’s life or prevent major bodily harm. In the vast majority of late term abortions, both the mother and the child can be preserved through the intervention of cesarean section.

Generation Heartbeat believes that abortion, being an act of murder, can never serve as a solution to a traumatic event such as rape, incest, abuse or any other crisis. While these events are grave evils in the eyes of God and GH, the child involved is wholly innocent and bears no responsibility for the suffering endured and should therefore not be liable to punishment. These circumstances are uniquely difficult because they involve a blameless third party, but aborting the child creates a second victim, neither undoing the original wrong nor bringing about true healing. In current United States legislation, rapists are not given the death penalty, so an unborn child certainly should not receive the death penalty either. Thus abortion stands as an additional moral atrocity, not a remedy (Deuteronomy 30:19).

Generation Heartbeat urges the public and the media to recognize that abortion leaves lasting hurt and regret upon women and men that will linger with them years, if not decades after their abortion. Studies reveal that upwards of 44% of women experience abortion regret and a lingering sadness at some point in their life after the operation, pointing to the destructive and evil nature of abortion and the reality that it does not resolve a traumatic event. GH upholds that genuine freedom and healing is found only in the truth of God’s word (John 8:32).

Generation Heartbeat views abortion medical care as an industry that deceives women by luring them with false promises of freedom and relief while concealing the profound spiritual and emotional devastation which results from ending a life fearfully and wonderfully made in the womb (Psalm 139:13-16). This multimillion-dollar enterprise prioritizes profit over truth, rejecting the child’s status as a bearer of God’s image (Genesis 1:27) and ignoring the Sixth Commandment’s prohibition on murder (Exodus 20:19). Satan, the father of lies (John 8:44), masquerades as an angel of light while working to steal hundreds of thousands of children’s lives every year through abortion. GH proclaims repentance, healing through Christ and the call to choose life (Deuteronomy 30:19).

Generation Heartbeat proclaims the profound realization that abortion has lead to a global genocide of infants in the womb and taken an unspeakable number of lives from the world and our population. According to Christian Resources, which draws statistics from the CDC and the GI, 930,160 abortions were performed in the United States alone in 2020. In 2021, the number was 976,668. In 2022, 951,168. 2023 brought in 912,360. In 2024, the United States saw over 1.1 million abortions. And most recently, the first six months of 2025 brought in 590,000. These numbers reveal an appalling history of murder and loss within the United States in the last 6 years alone and unveil the greatest injustice towards human life in this century – a tragedy that compels GH to advocate more and more everyday to rescue the lives of all babies to come.

Creed:

I believe in God,
the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried;
he descended into hell;
on the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty;
from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
one Holy Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.

Amen.
